Patrick Hartigan is a Chartered Engineer with a PhD in Satellite Communications. He was the founder of global maritime weather forecasting company, Nowcasting International. Author of over 25 conference and journal publications, including ‘Next Generation Maritime Communication Systems’, Int. Journal of Mobile Communications, 2005, Vol. 3, No. 3, pp231-248. He developed and delivered undergraduate technology courses at University of Limerick and Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, as well as for the Academy of Technology and Agriculture in Bydgoszcz, Poland. Former Président of l’Agence de Coopération pour l’Europe de la Mer, France. Irish Coast Guard volunteer with more than 150 missions completed. Rescue RIB coxswain. GMDSS GOC. ISA certs: yachtmaster offshore (sail), yachtmaster offshore theory, power boat, advanced power boat. Dept of Transport approved GMDSS (SRC) course provider since 2003. Skippered and crewed on 30’ – 45’ cruising yachts in Irish, French, Spanish, Moroccan and Greek coastal and offshore waters. Fluent in written and spoken English, French and Italian languages.
